I was really excited to stay at the Royal Santrian prior to my trip to Nusa Dua. This was not only due to the rich history of the Santrian brand, which I will expand about below, but also because of it’s location, Nusa Dua, the southern area of Bali which I loved the most on the whole island. Nusa Dua has peaceful environment, lush greenery, white sands and pristine waters, just like in pictures on the Internet, which you see when you search ‘Bali’.
Santrian Hotels have had presence (besides their excellent reputation!) in Bali since 1972. The resorts have developed a unique Santrian concept drawing upon Balinese style, culture and various traditions as well as excellence in service that they provide and comfort. The Royal Santrian Luxury Beach Villas is an elegant collection of The Santrian’s luxury villas in Nusa Dua. The villas are masterfully designed to guarantee the seclusion and comfort and to become a luxurious home away from home, so perfect for a break from the day-to-day shores.
We were greeted in mid-afternoon at the hotel’s beautiful open-air lobby, overlooking the tropical gardens of the Royal Santrian. Soon after arrival, we were given a homemade refreshment (I even got to watch the preparation process!) and a traditional welcoming ritual of blessing was introduced to us. Soon after this, we were checked in to our beautiful villa.
Once I opened the door, I was impressed by many characteristics were included, inside of the villa as well as outdoors. There was a large bed with premium bedding, a daybed/ lounge, a tea and coffee station (a bowl of fresh fruit and cookies was definitely a warm welcome!), and much more. The bathroom was super impressive with its large bathtub and a two sink vanity with high-quality toiletries. There was also a spacious shower and even an additional open-air shower outdoors. In front of my villa, there was a large swimming pool with sun loungers and an even an additional lounge/ dining area. I soon fell in love with my villa and never wanted to leave!
The hotel’s premised were resting within lush tropical gardens directly by the sandy beach of Nusa Dua. Furthermore, a large beautiful pool complimented the hotel’s surroundings perfectly. If you’re looking for a great tanning spot, this is the ideal spot.
Throughout the stay, the service was impeccable. Each member of staff at the hotel was very observant and always met our needs and went an extra mile to make sure that everything was flawless. Most were friendly and genuine and felt more like they were our new friends than simply hotel’s employees. After I had shared that I was a coffee lover, they always remembered to ask if we wished to order cappuccinos after our meals. I was really impressed with the service.
The part of the property that really blew me away was the hotel’s incredible food. Every morning, we could enjoy our breakfast in the all-day dining restaurant overlooking the pool and the ocean. However, when we were super-lazy, we could request for your breakfast to be delivered directly to your villa or to our pool, which was also a superb treat! The hotel’s restaurant specialized in Japanese food, which was a very pleasant surprise, since I am a huge sushi lover. I must admit that I tasted the best breakfasts and coffee, fresh salads, sushi and sashimi and delicious treats since my arrival to Bali at the Royal Santrian. Well done Royal Santrian!
During my stay, I also had a chance to try out a full body massage at the Royal Santrian Spa, which was an out of this world experience. The treatment began with a welcome drink and a scented cool towel on our arrival, followed by a foot washing procedure while chatting to friendly therapists. I’ve had numerous spa treatments, all around the world and this massage jumped to one of the top positions on my list! I did enjoy that the ending consisted of a bubble bath and while in the bath we were served homemade ginger tea.
To make the Royal Santrian experience even more memorable, on the last night, we were even offered to have a romantic candlelight dinner on the beach. We were offered to taste a special four-course menu with a choice of really good steak or fish as a main dish. All was tastefully presented while we were watching the sun setting at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, could it get more amazing?
The Royal Santrian offers a strong sense of luxury, quality and the Balinese tradition. The service was spectacular whether it was the turn-down service, the daily fresh fruit, or that we were always greeted with a smile. This property can suit the desires of both guests who love boutique hotels or large luxury brand names. For all these reasons and more, The Royal Santiran is high on top of my list for the South East Asia’s best accommodations.
