Puri Santrian: A Perfect Bali Escape with Tradition and Tranquility

After a taste of the luxurious Royal Santrian, I was really keen on experiencing more of The Santrian brand while I was still in Bali. I therefore decided to spend a few days in Sanur, at the Puri Santrian. What a find!

Puri Santrian is located directly on the beach in an tranquil upscale area of Sanur, on the south east coast of Bali. I personally found the area as the ideal vacation spot Bali due to it’s calm vibe, beautiful sandy beaches, high standard of dining options and the convenience of being a short ride away the airport and most of the busy areas of the island.

I was greeted warmly at the gates of Puri Santrian, and then proceeded to an open-air reception for a speedy check in, where the resort’s features were explained to me in detail, while I was enjoying my welcome drink.

The rooms at the Puri Santrian are extremely demanded but I was lucky enough to get a spot at one of their newest options: Premier Deluxe, which was located in an elegant contemporary complex within the resort, designed for adults only. There was a peaceful infinity pool right at the entrance, exclusive for Premier Deluxe guests, so tranquil within the shadows of the tropical greenery (yet plenty of sunshine spots for that perfect tanning session!).

My bedroom was great and had a bed with very comfortable bedding. The part of the room that got me the most excited was my balcony  – a peaceful spot with lots of greenery outside, where I was spending early mornings and evenings. It really felt like home.

The resort’s grounds could not get much more beautiful: it is broken into several different buildings over a large property along the beach. There are so many pools and facilities throughout. I felt like i was in a tropical paradise.

There were plenty of peaceful resting spots as well as activities at the Puri Santrian, you may choose to chill out or stay active during your vacation (I, of course, took advantage of both during my stay). You may spend your time relaxing on the beach, cycling along the coast of Sanur, take a traditional cooking class, enjoy the Spa and much more. However, my favourite at the Puri Santrian was the sunrise yoga class, which was an out of this world experience with magnificent views of the ocean. I joined the class every morning at 7am (well worth an early rise!) before breakfast.

The resort offered a variety of dining options, available all day long. There were international and local dishes available at the Beach Club restaurant, that served food and drinks throughout the day, directly by the beach. All meals were very tasty! Also, high end dining (with delicious Japanese dishes as well as Western cuisine) was available for dinner at The Mezzanine Restaurant. I highly recommend to try the latter one, if you are a fan of Japanese, like me.

During my stay at Puri Santrian, I was also able to experience a themed buffet dinner, which was a local Balinese feast with traditional dance show, and the local dishes were explained. It was my first time watching traditional Balinese dancing and I was impressed with complexity of expressions and emotions, which were transmitted to the audience during performance: a complete must-do if you are at Puri Santrian. It was also exciting to be introduced to Balinese dishes I had never tried before, such as the famous Balinese Suckling Pig.

Overall, I found Puri Santrian as a perfect spot for Bali vacation. If you are looking to spend a few weeks on the island, the resort has everything you need: a trusted quality, comfort of the modern rooms, friendly service of highest standard and a million of activities. Let alone the gorgeous sandy beach right in the front.
